We select teachers who inspire

We select teachers who deliver inspiring workshops and perform dazzling cabarets. But just as important, teachers who love their dancing and get out on the social dance floor with all of you.

picture soon Keith & Sam (Modern Jive)
We’ve managed to get the brilliant Keith and Sam to teach for us at Rock Bottoms and we couldn't be happier. With Keith’s background as a World Champion and TV performer, paired with Sam’s smooth style, you know the workshops are going to be top quality. It’s rare to get teachers with this much experience who are also so down-to-earth. You are going to love them.

picture soon Rob Dix (Blues)

Teaching blues this year are the fabulous Rob Dix and Amy.
Honestly, they are two of the loveliest and most sought-after teachers on the UK Blues scene, and they just have a fantastic, connected style.
Rob and Amy are amazing at helping you find the feeling, musicality, and partner connection that makes Blues dancing so special. Get ready for some brilliant, accessible workshops that will elevate your dancing, no matter your level.

picture soon Jim & Audrey (West Coast Swing)

Jim & Audrey will be joining us over the weekend to teach West Coast Swing.
They run regular classes and workshops in the Bristol area and are active within the UK WCS scene.
They are known for their friendly, supportive teaching style, with a focus on clear technique, good connection and helping dancers feel relaxed and confident on the floor.

Andy Fleming Andy Fleming (Lindy Hop)

Andy Fleming has been teaching Lindy Hop for over 25 years and is a real cornerstone of the UK swing scene. He co-founded Swing Dance Taunton and has taught at big events like France’s Lindy Hop Ski Week and Bristol’s New Year Swing Celebration, so he’s genuinely one of the people who’s helped build this world.

His gift is making complicated moves feel achievable. He breaks things down clearly and keeps the music and feel at the heart of it, so it never tips into dry technique drilling.

His classes are warm and inclusive, and he’s just as good with people brand new to Lindy as he is with seasoned dancers. You’ll come away with something solid to take onto the social floor.

picture soon Flavio (Tango)

The legendary Flavio is back at Rock Bottoms to teach some incredible Tango!
Flavio truly is a Brazilian dance sensation, with an amazing career history including winning a prize at the Curitiba Dance Festival and performing on the West End stage at the Shaftesbury Theatre. He’s also worked with the famous Tango Band, Otros Aires, and appeared in music videos.
Whether you're a complete beginner or just looking to add some dramatic flair to your dancing, you seriously can’t miss out on learning from Flavio this weekend!

picture soon Abes Cisse (Kizomba)

We are really pleased to welcome Abes Cisse to our weekend, where he will be teaching Kizomba.
Kizomba is a smooth, close partner dance danced to slow, flowing music with a steady beat.
Based in Exeter, Abes is a much-loved teacher known for his clear, friendly approach and his ability to put dancers at ease.
His classes focus on connection, musicality, and helping everyone feel comfortable and confident on the floor.

Your DJs

Jon Brett Jon Brett

Jon has been DJing for modern jivers for over 30 years, making him one of the most experienced jive DJs in the country. He co-organises Rock Bottoms and gets booked the length of the UK — from the North of England to the South Coast.

On the floor, Jon likes to mix things up: current pop, smooth Latin, a bit of swing, and whatever else feels right for the room. He takes requests and his aim is simple — a full, happy dance floor all night.

A bit of history: Jon introduced blues dancing to the modern jive world (Nigel & Nina ran with it and made it what it is today), and ran the country’s first live swing event for modern jivers. There’s usually more going on in a Jon Brett set than meets the eye.

Nick Stephens Nick Stephens

Nick is an international Modern Jive and West Coast Swing DJ based in Cornwall, who travels the length of the country to play at dance events.

His passion is simple: filling a dancefloor with happy people. How he does that depends on the room — the venue, the dancers, the mood — but you can always count on something new and unexpected being thrown in to keep things interesting. Main room, blues room, West Coast Swing — Nick knows his way around all of them.

Myra Hales Myra ‘Myracle’ Hales (Blues)

Myra's been here before and we were really pleased she said yes when we asked her back. She has a genuine gift for reading a room and building an atmosphere — the kind of DJ who makes the blues room feel like somewhere you don’t want to leave.

Her sets are soulful, expressive, and deeply musical. She pulls tracks that suit the dancing rather than just ticking boxes, and the floor tends to fill up and stay full. If you love blues dancing, you’re going to love this.

John Dunlop John Dunlop (Blues)

John is a blues dancer himself, which means he knows exactly what works on the floor. He’s probably best known for his role at Rhapsody, the well-regarded blues event near Southampton, and that pedigree speaks for itself.

His sets move between lyrical, atmospheric tracks and something more dynamic and modern — a range that keeps the floor engaged all night. The blues room is going to be in very good hands.
